The build

WHY IT EXISTS

The Top-Force Evo has always been one of my favourite Tamiya buggies, so I wanted to create something that combined its excellent chassis with one of Tamiya's most recognisable designs. The Hornet-inspired look gave the build a completely different character while keeping the Top-Force Evo underneath. Rather than simply recreating the original Hornet, I wanted it to feel like a modern interpretation of the classic.

I started with the Tamiya Top-Force EVO. (2021), Item #47470, and used the carbon-fibre DF-01 chassis as the foundation.

One of my favourite Tamiya builds — combining the classic Hornet look with the much more capable Top-Force Evo platform.

The body and overall styling were transformed into a Hornet-inspired build. Because the exact decals I wanted weren't available, I created my own decal work to achieve the look.

The build was then finished with custom parts and a high-performance brushless setup, turning the classic Top-Force Evo platform into something much more aggressive.

The result is the Hornet Force Evo — a mix of classic Tamiya styling, modern performance and plenty of personal touches.

Revive RC Top Force Lexan Body and Concept driverCustom-painted and created decals were used to achieve the Hornet-inspired livery, as the exact decal set required for the build was not available.
DRIVETRAIN
Gearbox strip and reshimA 25T pinion was fitted as part of the high-speed gearing setup to complement the upgraded brushless power system.
ELECTRONICS
Hobbywing 5400KV / Max8The original motor and ESC setup was replaced with a Hobbywing 5400KV brushless motor and Max8 ESC for a substantial increase in performance.
FINISH
